Planning a trip to Cambodia?
Everything you need to have the best vacation ever with the best places to go, things to do, food to eat and places to stay in Cambodia!
I have never been so surprised by a country. I had great experiences in Southeast Asia before but wasn’t sure what to expect from Cambodia.
Cambodia turned out to be one of my favorite destinations in Asia. With such recent unsettling history, the people are some of the kindest and most friendly that I had ever experienced on my travels. There is a great culture, the food was delicious, and the sites were unbelievable.
Where to go in Cambodia and what to do in Cambodia?
I can help you plan the best trip to Cambodia.
This is a 7 day itinerary in Cambodia with all of the best places to visit in Cambodia. There are three different options after experiencing the best things to do in Siem Reap- spend some time at one of Cambodia’s beautiful beaches, go on an adventure in a small village and then on to the capital city, or visit an elephant sanctuary.
This Cambodia travel itinerary is great for family travel, couples travel, or a friend’s trip. I have planned out 7 fun days in Cambodia and have given ideas for 3, 4 or 5 days in Cambodia, as well as 10 days in Cambodia.

Things to do in Siem Reap & Siem Reap tours
DAY 1
- Enjoy some Pool time then visit Angkor National Museum (if it sounds of interest to you and your family.) Walk through town, take in the culture and do some shopping. Stop at Artisans D’Angkor to get locally made products.
- Take a tuk tuk to Angkor Enterprise (usually open until 5:30, check hours) to purchase tickets for the temples (this will save you a lot of time in the morning!)
Click here to book a good tour in Siem Reap now
*Your shoulders and knees need to be covered when purchasing the tickets (and at all of the temples!) Bring a ziplock to keep your tickets dry if it’s raining.
Option: Watch the sunset at Pre Rup Temple (open until 7:p) and Srah Srang Lake, then have dinner.
Siem Reap Travel Tips:
- Make sure to book a tour guide who speaks clear English and is entertaining (if traveling with kids.) An air-conditioned van with water is important (it is hot and humid! It’s nice to be able to cool off and hydrate between temples.) You may want to book your tour/s through your hotel.

- Check the weather forecast. If morning fog is expected, then reconsider the Angkor sunrise tour. Instead, plan to have breakfast at the hotel as early as possible and reschedule to be picked up by your guide a half-hour later. If you are taking the sunrise tour, make sure to order packed breakfasts and coffee to pick up in the morning.
- Book massage appointments for the late afternoon, and make dinner reservations for tomorrow.
DAY 2 Siem Reap tour
- 4:45 am pick up, for the Angkor Wat sunrise tour with packed breakfasts (or eat breakfast at your hotel. Start your tour with Ta Prohm (get there early to beat the crowds and get the best photos), then to Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, and Bayon Temple (and possibly, Preah Kahn.)
- Return on a scenic drive along the river. Relax by the pool, have a foot massage, then have a leisurely dinner.

- Tour more temples outside of town: Beng Mealea, Koh Ker and Preah Vihear then take a tour of the countryside and see how the locals live.
Or
- Take a boat to Kompong Pluk floating village (during the rainy season only.)
- Return to your hotel for some pool time.

Option: If you are feeling adventurous, take a bike ride. Cycling around Siem Reap can be fun along the riverside.
